The design took the back seat to the content which was structured visually. This means that the diseases are colour coded for easier reference. Each disease comes with a description of its pathogenesis, molecular genetics, pathology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

The book is packed with visuals, graphs and tables, which have been visually integrated into a coherent whole.
